If you choose to join as a Sustaining Member, your additional dues directly help NMTLA carry on its mission and continue offering the programs and advocacy that protect the rights of your clients and strengthen our legal community.

Other Benefits Include:

ListServe
The NMTLA listserve has rapidly become one of the most popular benefits among members. It is an ongoing email conversation among NMTLA members in which we share information, insights and experience. Whether you are looking for a process server in a remote region of New Mexico, an expert witness, litigation advice or a novel legal theory you are likely to find it on the listserv. The listserve is dedicated to trial lawyers helping each other give our clients the best representation we can. [More Info Here]

Publications
NMTLA publications will save you countless hours of pleading preparation and research. Our quarterly journal is the only legal publication in New Mexico which gives a comprehensive overview of New Mexico and federal court decisions, both at trial and appellate levels. The Journal reviews key verdicts and settlements and brings you expert analysis of current issues. Our litigation manual has forms for current issues. Our library of seminar materials allows you to get research on a particular issue when you need it. Briefs and depositions are now available on the website in the Members Only area. [More info here]

Your membership gets you access to members only areas of the NMTLA website where you can search through NMTLA's brief banks, and depo banks, as well as access other useful features including:

Continuing Legal Education
NMTLA seminars are consistently rated the best in New Mexico. We bring you top experts in New Mexico law to lecture on topics directed to the practical needs of trial attorneys. Our members receive substantial discounts on all our CLE programs. Records of members’ NMTLA CLE hours are kept on computer for easy reference. [More info here]

Network of Professional Colleagues
Your NMTLA membership will put you in contact with top New Mexico trial lawyers, as well as general practitioners and specialists from the major cities and small towns. Communication with other trial lawyers will prove invaluable in making strategic and tactical decisions, and help avoid having to learn everything from scratch.

Representation in Santa Fe
NMTLA has a full-time lobbyist and a team of volunteers in Santa Fe for all legislative sessions.
Every year attempts are made to restrict rights of our clients to obtain redress for wrongs. NMTLA lobbying is widely acknowledged as being the prime reason why efforts to restrict access to courts and juries and “reform” the tort system have failed.  [More info here]

Amicus Assistance and Past Honorees
NMTLA’s amicus curiae briefs are given great respect by our appellate courts. Our amicus committee will submit briefs on important legal issues at no cost for NMTLA members.  Members can access theses briefs online. [More info here]

Public Education
NMTLA is committed to improving the tarnished image of attorneys through public education programs - People’s Law Schools, public mock trials, Speaker’s Bureaus for school and civic groups, editorial columns and press releases. We can provide such programs at your request.

Mentor Program
NMTLA has a mentor program that member attorneys may participate in. The list of mentors is available in the members only section.
